Committee 2 on fire!

A heated debate on possible solutions for a more stable and sustainable management of migrants from countries in conflict

16:28 Dakar delegates make hearts beat faster ;)

During the last moments spent with our committee, we could observe something happening on the screen of one of the delegates: he seemed to smile under his mask, and, one of his friends who was in his classroom approached his screen. Our dear delegate pointed at something on the screen, looking amused. At the end of the 3 debate sessions, he shared a little information with the committee.

"A lady asked for my insta," he said. It turns out that this delegate, representing Mexico, had indeed received a message asking to share his Instagram account.

Our presidents then spoke on the issue. We received an enthusiastic response from Sébastien: "Nice" and an "Ok" from Leta.

FerMun, Zoom and the difficulties that come with it

We all know that in these times of a global pandemic it is impossible to get everyone together, so we do our meetings via Zoom. This creates additional difficulties that sometimes prevent the debate from running smoothly: technical problems, more complicated speaking and broken cameras... There is no end to it!

Despite these many obstacles, Committee 2 maintained a vivid and spontaneous debate by finding concrete and feasible solutions, such as the introduction of a common directive authorising family reunification in the EU countries to facilitate the integration of migrants.

Cooperating delegations with similar views

After a thrilling and stressful wait, the final verdict was announced: the resolution passed. This sentence sums up the lobbying session and the two debate sessions. Most of the amendments passed with a majority, and as our chair told us, so did the final resolution. Hooray!
